Workshop: Biostatistics

This two-part workshop offers an introduction to essential statistical concepts and methods commonly used in scientific research. Combining theoretical foundations with practical hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to select, apply, and interpret statistical tests for different types of biological and experimental data.

Topics include data types and statistical significance, assumptions for difference testing, normality and variance tests, and methods for comparing groups. The workshop will also introduce data normalization approaches, p-value adjustment, and core concepts of correlation and causation. In the second part, participants will explore correlation analyses and regression methods, Principal Component Analysis and clustering algorithms.
